Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Step Down Units in Omaha, Nebraska. This position involves providing critical care to adult patients with complex medical conditions in a busy acute care environment. The RN will be responsible for delivering compassionate, high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced setting during night shifts, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, starting on 08/31/2026, with a minimum of 48 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as an RN, current BLS (American Heart Association) and ACLS certifications, prior experience in a step down or similar unit preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience managing ventilators, high-flow oxygen therapy, BiPAP, and other respiratory equipment; competent in titration of drips such as Insulin and Cardizem; familiarity with electronic medical records system, Epic.
- Float: Float to other medical-surgical and step down units may be required; float assignments will remain at the same level of care.
- Additional Information: Unit follows a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-1:5 during both day and night shifts. Orientation includes two days of unit-specific training. The team emphasizes patient-centric care, teamwork, and respectful treatment of a diverse patient population. EMTs and support staff such as nursing assistants, charge nurses, case managers, social workers, educators, and dietitians work collaboratively to enhance patient experience through hourly rounding and bedside shift reports. Equipment on the unit includes high-flow oxygen devices, ventilators, BiPAP machines, and electronic infusion pumps. Travelers should be comfortable managing titratable drips and respiratory equipment.
