Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in an acute care facility. The role involves providing specialized care to post-operative cardiac and vascular surgery patients in a vibrant, teamwork-oriented environment during night shifts. The RN will be essential in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a dynamic healthcare setting.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights, three 12-hour shifts per week, with weekends and holidays as scheduled, minimum of 48 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Active certifications in BLS and ACLS, minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a cardiac/vascular care setting, valid nursing license, willing to wait to submit license.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in step down or intermediate care units, proficiency with EPIC charting system, successful for previous cardiac or vascular care roles.
- Float: Float rotation may be required to sister units within the Heart and Vascular Institute.
- Additional Information:
- Unit comprises 32 beds, all private, with ratios of 1 RN to 3 patients in step down and 1 RN to 6 patients on the floor.
- Typical patient diagnoses include post-op cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, and cardiac cath procedures.
- RNs are required to titrate drips such as Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, TPA, Lasix, and Dobutamine.
- Staff includes unit charge nurses, house supervisors, and CMTs who interpret strips.
- Equipment available includes Cpap, Bipap, and Hi-flow respiratory support devices.
- BSN not required.
