Job Summary:
A Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in a magnet-level facility. The role involves providing specialized patient care on a stepdown unit with a diverse patient population, utilizing a co-care and virtual nursing model. The assignment offers an opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team, supporting patients with cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and complex medical-surgical needs, along with facilitating virtual nursing responsibilities.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum 48 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid Alaska RN license (must be in hand before auto-offer), 1 year of RN experience, certification in BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and proficiency in charting on Epic
  • Preferred Qualifications: None specified
  • Float: Float to lower acuity units, renal care, neuro, and medical-surgical units within scope
  • Additional Information:
    • Assignment length: 13 weeks, start date 09/28/2026 to 12/28/2026
    • RTO restrictions: Time off approved on an individual basis; all requests to be included during submittal
    • Overseeing diverse patient populations with approximately 30% cardiac cases, respiratory challenges including COVID, COPD, asthma exacerbations, and complex medical-surgical patients requiring close monitoring
    • Willingness to work three of the five major holidays is required
    • Special procedures include BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, wound care, and other advanced bedside skills
    • The virtual nurse works remotely assisting with admissions, discharges, rounding, education, and plans of care
