Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Nurse - Nights - Located in a medical facility, this role involves providing specialized patient care for a diverse population including patients with dysrhythmias, cardiopulmonary issues, sepsis, high-flow oxygen needs, and behavioral conditions requiring IV drip medications. The position supports a 24-bed unit with a patient-to-nurse ratio of approximately 1:3 or 1:4, depending on acuity. The nurse will collaborate closely with an educator on the unit to ensure high-quality care delivery.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar setting; licensure to submit; location requirements not specified
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with dysrhythmias, cardiopulmonary conditions, sepsis, and behavioral patients; familiarity with medication drips such as dopamine, levophed, cardizem, heparin, precedex, nitro, amio, dobutamine, Nicardine; prior step down unit experience preferred
- Additional Information: Unit operates with a high throughput environment typical of step down units. Charting is completed in the EPIC system. The facility maintains a trauma level 2 designation. The position may require working up to every other weekend. Cancellation policy includes three shifts per 13-week contract or two shifts per 12-week contract.
