Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Neuro Stepdown Nurse for a unit specializing in stroke and neuro-related diagnoses. The role involves providing care to adult and geriatric patients on a 30-bed step-down unit with a patient ratio of 3:1 for step-down and 4:1 for telemetry. The position is scheduled for daytime shifts, starting on 09/21/2026 and ending on 12/21/2026. The healthcare provider requires candidates to be comfortable working across a variety of acute neurological conditions with relevant certifications.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Days, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification, and at least 2 years of experience in a Stepdown or Telemetry unit.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a telemetry or neuro step-down setting, previous charge nurse experience, and travel experience preferred.
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
  • Skills: Managing neuro patients, IV management, wound care, use of monitoring equipment, and infection control protocols.
  • Additional Information: The unit provides interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, and rapid response teams. Candidates should be familiar with neuro-specific procedures, patient management, and monitoring. Onboarding includes completing labs within 3-5 days of contract signing, with full compliance documentation due 10 days prior to start.
