Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) opportunity located in Omaha, Nebraska. This role involves working in a busy high-flow unit that manages adult patients, including cardiac and stroke cases, with a focus on teamwork and positive patient care. The position requires adherence to unit policies and standards, including certification requirements and shift schedules.
Job Details:
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; minimum experience required: 2 years
- Location Requirements: Candidates outside a 50-mile radius and who are not full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with the leading healthcare network are eligible. Driver's license required at submittal to verify location restrictions.
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours each, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. The rotation includes weekends (6 weekends within a 6-week schedule) and holidays, which will rotate with permanent staff.
- Float: Float rotation may be required to Med/Surg and other hospital units, including ICU and Emergency Department, depending on abilities.
- Department Details: The unit has 28 beds with a ratio of 1:4, primarily adult patients arriving through the Emergency Room, with mixed medical/surgical cases, including cardiac and stroke patients.
- Responsibilities: Managing titratable IV drips such as Heparin, Octreotide, and Insulin; reading and interpreting telemetry; assisting with transfers, admissions, discharges; and working with patient care technicians.
- Equipment & Resources: Code Carts, LUCAS machines, Hoyer lifts, Sit-and-Stand.
- Additional Notes: First week includes classroom orientation followed by 2 twelve-hour shifts. Candidates should be positive team players willing to work collaboratively to meet unit demands.
