Job Summary:
This Step Down Unit RN position located in Bloomington, Illinois offers the opportunity to care for patients with a variety of medical conditions in an inpatient acute setting. The nurse will provide comprehensive care across a diverse patient population, utilizing advanced monitoring and medical equipment in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts, with rotating weekends, holidays, and inclusion in holiday & weekend rotations.
- Required Qualifications: Valid licensure to practice as a registered nurse, minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association), and NIHSS certifications.
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in a step-down or telemetry unit is advantageous.
- Float: Travel RNs are first to float and may be assigned to ICU or general medicine floors based on experience and staffing needs.
- Equipment & Technology: Utilization of electronic medical record system EPIC and Pyxis medication dispensing system.
- Patient Care: Caring for patients with conditions such as COPD, CHF, diabetes, sepsis, renal issues, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdoses, pneumonia, respiratory conditions, neuro/surgical/cardiac conditions, and patients with devices such as BiPAP, CPaP, tracheostomies, chest tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, central lines, dialysis, etc.
- Unit Details: 32 beds in all private rooms, nurse-to-patient ratio of 3-4 patients per nurse.
- Dress Code: Scrubs of any color.
- Orientation: One day with the education team and one day floor orientation before start.
- Start Date: 08/24/2026.
- Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours.
