Job Summary:
Cardiovascular and Vascular Step Down Nursing unit located in a thriving healthcare environment in Morgantown, West Virginia. This role involves providing high-quality care to post-operative cardiac, vascular, and cardiology patients with a focus on complex cardiac surgery and vascular procedures. The position offers a challenging and rewarding environment for experienced RNs to contribute to patient recovery and outcomes.
Job Details:
- Shift: Nights, overnight 12-hour shifts, with weekend and holiday coverage as scheduled. Minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid Virginia registered nursing license, ACLS certification, BLS certification, NIHSS certification, and at least 2 years of recent cardiac/vascular nursing experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in step down or critical care units with cardiac and vascular surgery patient care.
- Float: Float rotation may be required to sister units within the Heart and Vascular Institute.
- Additional Information:
- Unit composed of 32 private beds with ratios of 1 RN to 3 patients in step down and 1 RN to 6 patients on the floor.
- Care involves post-operative management of cardiac surgery patients (CABG, valve replacements, LVAD, heart transplant), vascular surgeries, and cardiology patients (STEMI, NSTEMI, heart failure).
- Common titratable medications include heparin, amiodarone, Cardizem, and TPA.
- Equipment includes Cpap, Bipap, Hi-flow ventilators.
- Nurse aids are present on the unit with a ratio of approximately 1 Clinical Associate to 8-10 patients.
- Read and interpret all patient strips, housed CMTs.
- Dress code: Solid Royal Blue and White scrubs.
- Unit offers comprehensive orientation of 2-3 shifts.
