Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) located in a coastal California community, this position involves providing nursing care to patients in a specialized step down unit. The role includes interpreting ECG rhythms, managing emergent patient situations, and supervising ancillary personnel. The position is represented by a CNA and requires collaboration with the healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Shift hours are from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Start date is 09/14/2026, and the assignment concludes on 12/13/2026.
  • Required Qualifications: Associate Degree (A.S.) or equivalent, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred, current RN license in the state of practice, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from an approved vendor, NIHSS certification within 6 months of hire, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor, AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS certification, and a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Successful completion of Basic Dysrhythmia Course, Critical Care Course, and six months of cardiac step-down or telemetry experience within the last two years.
  • Essential Functions: Provides nurse interventions in both stable and emergent patient situations, performs routine nursing skills including medication administration and intravenous therapy, and manages cardiac post-procedural care such as femoral sheath removal and pacemaker management. Interprets ECG rhythms, manages cardiac patients, and collaborates with the healthcare team to create and implement care plans. Delegates tasks based on competency, documents care accurately, and maintains safety and quality standards. Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Additional Information: The role involves ongoing evaluation of patient responses to treatments, safety checks, and opportunities for quality improvement. Candidates must be open to change and innovative problem solving.
