Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Nurse in a hospital setting providing care for patients recovering from acute cardiac and medical conditions. The unit cares for patients with myocardial infarctions, heart failure, rhythm issues, post-catheterization, and other short-stay cardiac cases. The role involves managing both observational and more acute patients, with a focus on monitoring drips such as amiodarone, diltiazem, heparin, and nitroglycerin.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher preferred, minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a step-down or cardiac unit, current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications, and experience with cardiac drips such as amiodarone, diltiazem, heparin, and nitroglycerin.
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in a cardiac step-down or telemetry unit, familiarity with post-procedure care including cath lab patients, and proficiency in rhythm interpretation.
- Additional Information: The role involves caring for adult patients (over 18 years old), including those pregnant over 20 weeks, on both observational and acute care sides of the unit. Nurses will handle a variety of therapeutic infusions, monitor patient status, and respond to emergent situations per SOPs.
