Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) located in a general medical-surgical facility. The role involves providing high-quality patient care for a variety of diagnoses including heart failure, chest pain, stroke, sepsis, renal failure, and respiratory failure, utilizing advanced skills such as stroke management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and drain management. The schedule is nights, with a commitment of 36 hours per week starting from 09/14/2026 through 12/12/2026.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid RN license, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification. Minimum of 18 months of recent PCU experience; high proficiency in stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, Flexiseals, Foley insertion/management), PCA pump management, and medication drip management including cardiac drips, Heparin, Insulin, blood products, and IVF.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in stroke care and cardiac rhythm interpretation.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required to other units within the region as needed, with pay adjustments for mid-shift floating.
  • Additional Information: The facility has 207 licensed beds, but no trauma designation or teaching status. The unit includes 10 medical-surgical beds and 10 progressive care beds, with a patient ratio of 1:3-4 for PCU. The team includes support staff such as CNAs, receptionists, and charge nurses, with resource nurses available based on staffing. Technology includes Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors. Orientation includes 2 days of departmental training. Candidates must accept floating to all units within scope and within regional facilities as needed, operating within scope of practice. Scrub color is navy. Parking is free. The unit fosters a teamwork-oriented culture.
