Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a qualified Post Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse to work at a trauma center located in Fargo, North Dakota. This role involves providing postoperative care to patients ranging from infants to geriatrics, with a focus on high-acuity pediatric and adult surgical patients across multiple specialties. The PACU Nurse will be responsible for caring for patients in a busy, high-volume unit with a rotating schedule, including day shifts, call duties, and occasional weekends and nights.
Job Details:
- Shift: 10-hour day shifts with rotating call; occasional weekends and nights.
- Minimum Hours Per Week: 40 hours.
- Start Date: 09/14/2026.
- Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse (ND RN), ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association), PALS (American Heart Association); minimum of 2 years of PACU experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Critical Care experience; experience in large hospital settings (250+ beds).
- Schedule: 10-hour day shifts with rotating call, occasional weekends and nights, PACU only, no preoperative duties, caring for a diverse patient population from babies to geriatrics.
- Float Requirements: Floating to other units or departments, including between campuses for Phase I PACU, may be required.
- Unit Description: 18 bay Phase I PACU and 14 bay Phase I PACU across two floors with the same staff, utilizing equipment such as Epic charting, AcuDose Medication Dispensing, Phillips monitors, vents, and BiPap. The unit adheres to ASLAN standards of 1-1 or 2-1 nurse-to-patient ratios.
- Additional Information: Must be able to care for pediatric patients with an average of 5-15 children daily, and handle high-acuity adult patients post-surgery. Proficiency in caring for patients across all surgical specialties, including ICU, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, and Interventional Radiology. Orientation includes basic hospital/unit training and Buddy RN support.
