Job Summary:
Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nurse in a Level I Trauma facility located in St. Louis, Missouri. This 12-week assignment is tailored for experienced registered nurses with proficiency in managing complex postoperative patients, including those requiring mechanical ventilation, vasoactive drips, and multiple drains. The role involves providing care across preoperative, Phase I, and Phase II recovery, with an emphasis on quick patient turnover and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Location: Short Term Acute Care facility in St. Louis, Missouri
- Shift: Days, 10-hour shifts (08:00 AM - 06:00 PM) with a total of 40 hours per week
- Schedule: 09/14/2026 through 12/07/2026
- Required Qualifications: Valid ACLS and BLS certifications; minimum of 1 year of experience in critical care or Level I Trauma Center PACU; familiarity with electronic charting in EPIC; ability to pass the Relias EKG exam and interpret/manage dysrhythmias; experience with drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from anesthesia; proficient in blood product administration, IV starts, blood drawing, and phases of postoperative care.
- Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Level I experience and TNCC certification.
- Additional Information: Must be able to perform pre-op and post-op patient care in a rapid-paced environment with quick patient turnover. The unit staffs approximately 30 bays, serving patients undergoing various surgical procedures including neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, colorectal, GYN, orthopedics, and vascular. Candidates must have at least one year of critical care or Level I Trauma Center PACU experience. The assignment requires passing a Relias EKG exam and may involve floating within service lines to meet facility needs.
- Certifications & Licenses: Valid license in Missouri or compact license; IL license required at time of submittal; no local candidates within 75 miles accepted.
- Other Requirements: Covering 24 hours of on-call per 6-week period; flexibility for quick turnaround; maximum of 7 days of RTO unless approved; compliance deadline at 3PM CST on the Monday prior to the start.
- Parking & Orientation: Parking passes available; orientation held at designated parking garage; wear scrubs for orientation.
