Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Nurse in a Level I trauma center located in an acute care hospital. The role involves providing specialized perioperative care across various service lines, with a focus on general surgery, trauma, orthopedics, neurology, urology, plastic surgery, and transplant cases. The position offers flexibility for open scheduling within a high-volume surgical environment, supporting a patient-centered approach within a Level I trauma setting.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, days, with a minimum of 48 hours per week. Start date is 09/14/2026 and end date is 12/14/2026.
  • Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license (or in application process), BLS certification. A minimum of 2.5 years of operating room (OR) experience required. Level I trauma experience mandatory. Open to candidates with ultrasound or laparoscopic case experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: CNOR certification, Cerner charting system familiarity, and trauma level I certification.
  • Additional Job Requirements:
    • On-call duty once per week, though frequency may vary.
    • Must have general OR experience including trauma and surgical procedures listed.
    • Experience with laparoscopic assisted surgeries, organ donation, and complex neurology, orthopedic, plastic, urology, and trauma cases required.
    • Skills include administration of blood products, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling, and urinary catheterization.
    • Candidate must meet all special requirements including equipment/ instrumentation familiarity and emergency management skills.
  • Additional Information:
    • Must work with all service lines except cardiovascular (CV).
    • Will work within scope to meet facility needs, rarely floating within skill set.
    • Must have active Illinois license, or be in application process.
    • Must be prepared to adhere to RTO and start date confirmation, and complete all orientation modules prior to start.
    • Travel experience is required; references may be pending.
    • Floating may be required within the hospital or to nearby facilities, depending on operational needs.
    • Candidate is responsible for reviewing and confirming RTO, compliance, and housing arrangements prior to submission.
