Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Nurse in a Level I trauma center located in an acute care hospital. This role involves providing specialized perioperative patient care across various surgical service lines, with a focus on trauma and general surgery cases. The position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic team environment and contribute to critical patient outcomes.
Job Details:
- Shift: ALT 1045-2115 / 1245-2315, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Schedule: 10-hour shift hours, 40 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: BLS certification; minimum 2.5 years of OR experience; active Illinois license in hand or in application process; specific experience in trauma and general surgery cases, including laparoscopic, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple procedure, cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion, arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, open and closed fracture reduction, free flap microvascular procedures, organ donation, urology procedures, trauma surgeries (amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, multiple injuries); experience with emergency management skills including code response, fire safety, latex allergy, and malignant hyperthermia. Cerner experience is preferred. Level I trauma experience is required.
- Preferred Qualifications: CNOR certification; experience with Da Vinci Xi Surgical System, Mazor Robot, and laparoscopic assisted gynecological procedures.
- Additional Information: Candidate must have at least 50 miles commuting distance from the facility; can work with all service lines except cardiovascular; must be willing to float within scope as needed; weekends include 1 per month; on-call requirement is once per week, though it is less frequent. RTO restrictions apply, and all time off requests must be approved by the manager. Candidate must be prepared to work some major holidays.
- Facility & Patient Care Details: The hospital has 562 beds and is a designated Level I trauma center. Equipment includes electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, Hana tables, and other surgical instruments. The first day of orientation will be conducted virtually, with all required modules completed by 4:00 PM CST.
