Job Summary:
Operating Room Specialist in an acute care facility. This role involves supporting a busy level I trauma center with a diverse range of surgical procedures including general, neuro, ortho, robotics, gynecology, urology, transplants, and plastics. The position requires flexibility for rotating shifts and floating across multiple campuses, with a focus on ensuring high-quality patient care during complex surgeries.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Rotating shifts, 10 hours per shift, with a minimum of 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: 24 months of current operating room experience, hospital or medical center setting preferred; circulating or scrub experience highly preferred; experience in general, Da Vinci robotics, pediatrics, and trauma surgeries required; additional experience in neurology, orthopedics (primarily trauma), gynecology, urology, transplants, plastics, ENT, and vascular highly preferred; EPIC electronic medical systems experience within the previous 3 years required; trauma Level I experience highly preferred, Level II required; active Iowa or multistate license required; BLS (AHA) certification required; Drivers License document required
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with advanced surgical equipment and high-acuity procedures
- Additional Information: The position includes working at least 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day). The unit is a high-volume operating environment with an average caseload of 35-50 cases daily and less than 20-minute turnovers. Use of surgical technology such as 3 Davinci robots, Stealth neuro navigation, and Synthes or Stryker orthopedics is standard. The facility is a Level 1 trauma center with 16 OR suites, routinely running 12-14 surgeries daily, with responsibilities to scrub or circulate. The role involves supporting a variety of service lines, including cardiac/peripheral vascular, neuro, trauma, robotics, gyn, uro, general, pediatrics, transplants, ENT, and plastics. No first-time travelers accepted; candidates must have completed a travel assignment within the past 9 months.
