Job Summary:
The operating room (OR) registered nurse (RN) position is located in Charleston, West Virginia. This day shift position involves supporting a surgical unit with an average of 22 cases per day. The role requires working collaboratively within the ambulatory surgery setting, providing specialized care in ophthalmology and other surgical procedures.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Day shift, Monday through Friday, with hours from 0645 to 1515. Candidates may need to stay late until cases are completed.
- Required Qualifications: Certifications include BLS (AHA). Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience as an operating room technologist (ORT), with expertise in ophthalmology, including independently performing cataract and cornea procedures. Ability to scrub and circulate ambulatory surgery procedures is essential.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in ophthalmology, particularly in performing cataract and cornea surgeries independently.
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Yes, but not in the One Day Surgery Building.
- Shifts & Scheduling: No self-scheduling is permitted; shifts begin at 0645, with potential for late finishing.
- Weeknight/Call Requirements: Minimum of one weekday call shift per week, with a 30-minute response time.
- Weekend/Call Requirements: Up to every other weekend with 30-minute response time.
- Holiday/Call Requirements: Call rotation with 30-minute response time.
- Floating: May be required to float to other surgical departments.
- Scrub Color/Dress Code: Scrubs will be provided.
- Unit/Department Orientation: Completion of hospital orientation followed by staff orientation in the outpatient surgical unit.
- Cancellation Policy: Two shifts per 13-week assignment or greater; one shift for shorter assignments.
- Charting System: EPIC.
- Trauma Level: Care setting is acute care.
