NICU / Special Care Nursery RN – Travel Contract
Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | 12-hour shifts
Contract: 91 weeks
Job Description:
Concord Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Special Care Nursery (SCN). Candidates should have 3–4 years of nursing experience, including at least 2 years of NICU or Level II SCN experience. Postpartum experience is preferred but not required. Cerner experience is preferred but not required.
The SCN is a 6-bed unit integrated with an 18-bed LDRP unit, with an average census of 2–5 neonates. The unit cares for babies 32 weeks and above. RNs attend vaginal deliveries and assist in the OR for C-sections. The unit also cares for grower-feeder infants.
Responsibilities:
- Provide care to neonates in a Level II Special Care Nursery
- Assist with vaginal and C-section deliveries
- Start neonatal IVs
- Care for babies on CPAP
- Perform tube feedings
- Manage neonatal withdrawal using ESC
- Administer surfactant via LMA when appropriate
- Monitor and document patient condition
- Provide family education and support
- Follow hospital safety and infection-control standards
Requirements:
- 3–4 years of nursing experience
- Minimum 2 years of NICU or Level II SCN experience
- Previous NICU or Level II SCN experience required
- Comfortable assisting with deliveries
- Experience with CPAP, tube feedings, and neonatal IVs
- Comfortable managing ESC/withdrawal patients
- Active RN license
