Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in a Level III neonatal care unit. The role involves providing specialized care to neonates, including premature infants and other critically ill newborns. The position offers an opportunity to work in a demanding clinical environment with a focus on high-risk patient management and family support.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid state license, at least 2 years of experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and a minimum of 1 year in a specialty area. Certifications required include Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience managing PICC lines, high-frequency ventilators, ECMO, and complex neonatal procedures; familiarity with Epic charting system; prior community hospital experience.
- Float: May float to adjacent units with compatible patient populations, including some cases involving coupling.
- Additional Information:
- Unit handles approximately 190 births per month, with a high-acuity level 3 NICU patient population.
- Staff must work three out of five major holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, and New Years Day. All holiday RTO requests must be included at the time of submission and are subject to approval based on the facility's needs.
- The assignment includes orientation hours totaling 36 hours.
- The facility is equipped with high-frequency ventilators, ventilator management systems, CPAP/BIPAP, smart pumps, and isolettes.
- The role requires competence in invasive procedures such as central line management, intubations, spinal taps, and ROP exams.
