Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position available in a Level IV NICU setting in Madison, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized critical care to high-acuity neonates, including those requiring surgical interventions, respiratory support, and neurological care. The RN will deliver comprehensive patient-centered care across the continuum, ensuring the safety and well-being of fragile newborns and supporting their families.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a commitment of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid Wisconsin RN license or valid compact license, a minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience, including at least 1 year in a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Certifications required include BLS and NRP (American Heart Association). Epic electronic health record system experience is mandatory.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with post-operative neonatal patients, g-tubes, trach/vent management, invasive and non-invasive ventilation modes (e.g., ventilators, oscillators), and completion of additional neonatal certifications such as PALS.
  • Unit Details: The NICU cares for neonates across a broad spectrum of diagnoses, including surgical, cardiac, neurological, and genetic conditions. It features advanced respiratory equipment like ventilators (including NAVA), whole-body cooling systems, and monitors such as aEEG. The unit supports multidisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and social services.
  • Additional Information: Candidate must demonstrate competence with complex neonatal procedures, invasive device management, medication administration, and family education. Floating to other pediatric units, including the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, may be required as needed. Two references are required, and strict pass/fail testing in cardiac rhythm identification will be conducted prior to assignment.
