Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse in Washington, District of Columbia. This position involves providing specialized care in a Level III NICU, with a focus on ventilator management, oscillators, pressors, and micro preemies. The role emphasizes stability and expertise in neonatal emergencies, including immediate post-delivery assessments and interventions for a diverse patient population ranging from 23 weeks gestation to four months old.
Job Details:
- Location: Washington, District of Columbia
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of District of Columbia. NICU experience of at least 2 years, with a preference for 3 or more years of NICU experience. Must have certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Basic Life Support (BLS). The candidate must reside within 50 miles of the facility.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ventilators, oscillators, pressors, and care for micro preemies. Ability to perform bedside procedures such as IV insertions, intubations, septic workups, and parental education.
- Additional Information: Neonates are primarily admitted from labor and delivery. The NICU team responds to neonatal emergencies, providing assessment and immediate care, including noninvasive nasal CPAP, mechanical ventilation, nitric oxide inhalation therapy, and other advanced interventions. Candidates must demonstrate stability, competency in handling high-acuity cases, and the ability to attend high-risk deliveries and C-sections.
