Job Summary:
Neurological Intensive Care Unit (ICU) registered nurse (RN) position available in a neuro-critical care setting. Located in the region, this role involves caring for patients with neurological conditions, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, head injury, and neurosurgical cases. The position is suitable for experienced nurses with a neuro ICU background who are comfortable performing assessments and bedside procedures within a fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour days, with a guaranteed minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: WI RN License, BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association or American Red Cross), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification. Minimum of 2 years of related experience with at least 1 travel assignment preferred. Experience in Med/Surg ICU and/or Neuro ICU is highly desirable.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a Neuro Interventionalist, familiarity with external ventricular drains (EVDs) and intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring.
- Float: Will float between Neuro Critical Care ICU and Medical/Surgical ICU units, with potential float to other inpatient units as needed.
- Additional Information: The unit is an 8-bed Neuro unit dedicated to the neuro patient population including stroke, TBI, head injury, and neurosurgery cases. Expected procedures include neuro assessments, line placements, intubation, bolt and drain bedside placements, and monitoring for neurosurgical patients. Candidates should be resilient, able to manage change independently, and complete tasks promptly. Scrub colors are flexible.
- Shift Notes: 12-hour days with no guaranteed bonus hours during orientation; low census hours are possible and would be scheduled in 4-hour increments; no on-call requirement. During holidays, every other weekend and holiday shifts are required. Flu and COVID vaccination compliance is mandatory, with masks required if declined.
