Opportunity:
RN - Med Surg/Tele
Job Details:
• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM with a mandatory 30-minute punch-out break
• Every other weekend and holiday requirements
• Department: Med Surg RN 4th Floor
• 30-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 4-6 patients on days and 5-6 patients on nights, occasionally up to 7 at night
• Nurse aide ratio of 1:10
• Common diagnoses include post-op knee, hip, shoulder, thyroidectomy, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, as well as medical patients with HTN, HF, Pneumonia, COPD, AMS, TIA, DM, Sepsis, UTI, and AKI
• Titrating drips is rare; common drips include Heparin and PCAs
• RT equipment includes CPAP (home settings at night) and BiPAP (rare)
• Telemetry monitoring supported by central monitor and tele techs; RNs are not required to read and interpret tele strips independently
• Charge RN takes an assignment, sometimes full and sometimes modified
• Floating required to like units; may float as a CNA to IMC, ICU, or ED
• Navy blue scrubs required
• 3-day unit orientation for agency staff; first day includes computer-based training with shadowing if completed early
• Charting system: Cerner
• Minimum 1 year of Med-Surg experience required
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• No on-call or standby requirement
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
