Prime Time Healthcare Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Neuro RN – Med Surg / Stepdown | WVU Health System

Unit: 10 West – Neuro
Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Schedule: Full-time nights with rotating weekends and holidays
EMR: Epic
Unit Size: 20 beds

• 14 Med Surg/Floor beds
• 6 Stepdown beds

Patient Ratios

• Stepdown: 1:3
• Floor: 1:5–6

Experience

Strong Neuro experience is required.

Stepdown experience is NOT required for this unit.

Common patient populations include:

• Stroke
• Seizures
• Deep Brain Stimulators (DBS)
• Post-op spine patients
• Neurological disorders
• Neuroscience surgical patients

Required Certification

• BLS required
• ACLS preferred
• NIHSS preferred

Drips / Acuity

Stepdown patients may receive:

• Amiodarone
• Cardizem
• Nitroglycerin
• Dopamine
• Nipride
• Ketamine
• Lasix
• Bumex
• Insulin

Titration is performed according to physician orders and applicable protocols.

Telemetry / Respiratory Support

• Telemetry on the unit
• Monitor technicians interpret strips
• RNs verify/document monitor tech interpretations in Epic
• RT available 24/7
• Unit may receive stable "floor vent" patients
• Vent experience is not required
• RT and physicians manage ventilator settings

Support

• Charge RN available 24/7
• Approximately 3 nurse aides per shift
• CNA ratios approximately 1:7–10

Floating

May float based on hospital needs. First-priority units include:

• 7 East
• 7 West
• 7 Northeast
• 10 East

Travelers may then be offered to other hospital units if needed.

Scheduling

• Facility may allow 3 shifts in a row, but this is not guaranteed
• Travelers must remain flexible
• Nights generally require every other weekend or 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period
• Holiday rotation required
• 2 facility cancellations allowed per 13-week contract

Submission / Traveler Rules

• Candidate may only be submitted to one WVU position at a time
• Candidate's driver's license address must be more than 50 miles from the facility
• Unexpired driver's license copy required with submission
• WVU will consider candidates with a pending license
• Previous permanent employees must have been away for 2 years
• Travelers who previously worked within the system for a full year must also be away for 2 years

• Travel teams must be submitted together

   

Additional Details

• Scrubs: Any combination of white and royal blue
• Unit-specific orientation: 1 shift

Strong fit for a Neuro RN with solid stroke, seizure, post-op spine, and neurological patient experience. Stepdown experience is a plus but is not required.
