Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical-Surgical with Telemetry in a busy Level 1 Trauma designated facility located in Macon, Georgia. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care to post/pre-cardiac and step-down ICU patients with diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, and sepsis. The position offers an opportunity to work within a collaborative team environment on night shifts, supporting a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 48 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Georgia state nursing license, BLS (Basic Life Support), Basic Cardiac Rhythm (EKG Rhythm exam) required, 2 years of medical-surgical RN experience, experience with cardiac patient care, IV insertion and care, wound care, telemetry interpretation, and post-op monitoring
- Preferred Qualifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification, medical-surgical certification nursing, experience managing chest tubes, trach care, glucose and insulin drips, heparin drips, and titration of medication infusions
- Duties: Assist with vital signs, glucose checks, patient hygiene, feeding, ambulating patients, assisting with turning, hourly rounding, transporting patients, obtaining blood from blood bank, unit secretary duties (7a-11p), charge nurse responsibilities, phlebotomy, working with telemetry equipment, discharge planning, and patient education on renal and fluid management
- Support within the Department: CNA support for patient care, discharge nurses, resource team floats, RT (respiratory therapy) support 24/7, hospitalist support 24/7, intensivist support 24/7, and access to central telemetry unit technology and equipment
- Orientation: 1-day facility orientation with work on educational modules and 2-day departmental orientation
- Other Notes: Scrub color for RN is navy; parking is free; the unit culture is busy but encourages teamwork; all med-surg telemetry units in the facility
