- Setting: Adult and geriatric Med/Surg Telemetry unit
- Floating: May float to other Med/Surg Telemetry units as needed
Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia or compact state eligibility
- Minimum of 1 year of recent RN experience required
- Minimum of 1 year of travel nursing experience required
- At least 1 year of recent acute care experience required
- Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- ACLS preferred at hire and required within 6 months
- Ability to pass an EKG exam at orientation
- Phlebotomy skills required
- Experience caring for patients on BiPAP, CPAP, trachs, chest tubes, and tube feeds
- CAPD experience preferred
- Must be comfortable caring for adult and geriatric patients
- Must live outside the local 50-mile radius
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care using the nursing process from assessment through evaluation
- Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition in a Med/Surg Telemetry environment
- Administer medications and treatments in alignment with nursing standards and clinical protocols
- Provide care coordination and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Care for patients with telemetry needs, pre/post hemodialysis needs, and CAPD support
- Support patients requiring respiratory therapies and advanced monitoring equipment
- Perform patient teaching and support families through education and reassurance
- Maintain accurate documentation and promote patient safety at all times
- Adapt quickly to changing patient needs while maintaining a calm, professional approach
- Contribute to a collaborative unit culture focused on quality, teamwork, and patient-centered care
