Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical with Telemetry at a major medical center located in Madison, Wisconsin. The position involves providing care to neuro patient populations on a 25-bed neurosurgery general care unit, with shifts during nights from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. This opportunity offers a chance to work within a collaborative, evidence-based environment that emphasizes advanced nursing skills and interdisciplinary teamwork.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: RN license, BLS certification from the American Heart Association, at least 2 years of recent acute care experience in neuro or medical-surgical units, recent experience with telemetry monitoring, Epic electronic charting system experience, and current WI RN or compact RN license.
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience working with neuro or trauma patient populations, involvement with stroke or neurological care programs, and experience managing complex patient needs in an inpatient setting.
- Additional Information: The role requires passing a telemetry interpretation exam with strict passing criteria prior to start, including two attempts to identify lethal rhythms with 100% accuracy and no incorrect answers regarding third-degree heart blocks. Traveler candidates must be willing to float as needed, and the local radius restriction of 50 miles from the facility applies (locals are not accepted). Orientation includes 24 hours of training.
