Holiday Requirements: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
Floating Requirements: Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises
About Facility:
- 109 Licensed Beds
- No Trauma Designation
- Not a Teaching Hospital – no residents/students
- Advanced Primary Stroke Center
- Radius rule: Traveler s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
Unit Information:
- Beds: 27
- Census: Average 20
Minimum Years of Experience required: 18 months Med/Tele experience
Will you accept a first-time traveler: Not preferred, will consider (Resource Team)
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Stroke, COPD, Chest Pain, Altered Mental Status, GI bleed
Patient Ratios:
- RN: 1:5-6, acuity dependent - (surge staffing could increase ratios up to 1:7-8)
- LPN: 1:5-6, acuity dependent - (surge staffing could increase ratios up to 1:7-8)
- CNA: 1:9
Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Skills required:
- General Med/Tele skillset: Stroke experience/NIH assessments, Chest tube management, PIV starts, trach care, Cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc), PCA pumps
- Medication gtt management to include: Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF
Support within the Department:
- CNA: Duties: Yes, CNA s can insert foleys if certified and remove IV s for Discharge if certified, in addition to Vitals, ADLs, etc.
- Receptionist/HUC: Dayshift only
- Charge nurse – may or may not have patient assignment
- Phlebotomy, 24/7
- No designated IV/VAT Team
- RT, 24/7
- Hospitalist, 24/7
- Telemetry monitoring/tech: Yes
Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: Epic
- IV Pump: Alaris
- Med dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Philips
Floating: If yes, where:
- Within region and scope of practice
- Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
- Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main Mercy LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises
- If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
Orientation (facility and unit):
- NEO
- 2 days departmental
Scheduling:
- Weekend rotation: every other
- No call
- Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
- RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
- Shift times: 0700-1900 and 1900-0700
- Schedule cycle: every 6weeks
