Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Schedule: 3x12 per week
On-Call: Not Required
Position Overview
Jacobi Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg to provide high-quality nursing care to patients in an acute care hospital setting. The RN will be responsible for assessing patients, developing and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications, providing post-operative care, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Provide direct and compassionate bedside nursing care to pre- and post-surgical patients.
- Administer and accurately document prescribed medications.
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, catheter insertion, and IV therapy.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and clinical status.
- Recognize and promptly report adverse reactions or changes in patient condition.
- Operate and monitor specialized medical equipment as required.
- Perform telemetry monitoring and accurately interpret and document patient measurements.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care.
- Assist with discharge planning and patient transitions of care.
- Educate patients and their families regarding procedures, medications, treatment plans, and post-operative care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, medical charts, and documentation.
- Follow established nursing standards, infection-control practices, policies, and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience in a large acute-care hospital setting.
- Most recent Med/Surg experience must be within the past year.
- Experience with:
- Physical assessment
- Medication administration
- Wound care
- Infection control
- IV therapy
- Post-operative care
- Patient education
- Telemetry monitoring
- Active New York State RN License with Primary Source Verification.
- AHA BLS certification.
- AHA ACLS certification.
