Job Summary:
This role is for a Medical Surgical Nurse specializing in stroke stepdown care in a healthcare facility located in Utica, New York. The position involves providing comprehensive nursing care for adult patients with conditions such as stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, dialysis, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, and pulmonary problems. The shift runs from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with floating required and a focus on adult patient care within a unit that accommodates 64 beds.
Job Details:
- Shift: 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Block scheduling is never promised or guaranteed)
- Schedule: Days, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Certifications include current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS); valid drivers license matching demographic information; up-to-date resume showing at least 2 years of experience in Medical Surgical (MS) with stroke stepdown experience; travel experience documented; NIHSS required for this unit (can be obtained prior to start).
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with IV pumps, N/G tubes, feeding tubes, and familiarity with the unit-specific common diagnoses and equipment.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information:
- Unit serves adult patients with diagnoses including stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, dialysis, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, and pulmonary issues.
- The unit is equipped with IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes.
