👩‍⚕️ Position Overview

The Travel Medical-Surgical RN will provide coordinated, patient-centered nursing care to an assigned group of patients while following established standards of care and the nursing process.

The RN will use clinical judgment, critical thinking, professional discretion, and independent decision-making to assess patients, develop and implement individualized care plans, evaluate outcomes, and coordinate care with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

This role may also involve supervising and directing the activities of assigned nursing staff and appropriately delegating responsibilities to other members of the healthcare team.

Patient Assessment & Care Planning

  • Collect and document relevant patient health data
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments
  • Analyze assessment findings to identify patient diagnoses and care priorities
  • Develop individualized nursing care plans
  • Establish measurable patient outcomes
  • Implement evidence-based nursing interventions
  • Continuously evaluate patient progress and response to treatment 

Patient-Centered Care

  • Provide safe, compassionate, and coordinated nursing care
  • Promote a healing, humane, and respectful patient environment
  • Monitor changes in patient condition and communicate concerns appropriately
  • Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals
  • Promote patient safety and quality outcomes 

Education & Discharge Planning

  • Educate patients and families regarding their condition, treatment, medications, and care plans
  • Provide appropriate health information to patients and caregivers
  • Participate in discharge planning
  • Promote continuity of care following discharge
  • Provide education and support to other members of the healthcare team when appropriate 

Team Leadership & Delegation

  • Appropriately delegate patient-care responsibilities
  • Coordinate activities of nursing and healthcare team members
  • Supervise and direct assigned nursing staff as appropriate
  • Collaborate with other departments and disciplines
  • Use sound clinical judgment and professional discretion when making patient-care decisions 

 

🎓 Requirements

Required

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
  • BLS/CPR certification from an approved provider
  • AHA ACLS or ARC ALS certification
  • Ability to work in an acute-care hospital environment 

Preferred

  • BSN – Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Previous acute-care facility experience
  • Medical-Surgical nursing experience
