Job Summary:
This Medical Surgical Floor registered nurse position is based in Galesburg, Illinois. The role involves providing patient care on a unit with 37 beds, including private and semi-private rooms. The nurse will work during night shifts as part of a 12-hour schedule, delivering quality care for patients with conditions such as COPD, Sepsis, CVA, COVID, pneumonia, and post-surgical needs.
Job Details:
- Location: Galesburg, Illinois
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM 7:30 AM, with self-scheduling available; manager will assign schedules, ensuring every other weekend work and holiday coverage as needed.
- Required Qualifications: IL nursing license with active status or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; active BLS certification as per AHA standards; a minimum of 2 years of experience as a registered nurse on a medical-surgical unit; willingness to work every other weekend and holiday rotations; proficient in EPIC EMR system; acceptable communication skills for team collaboration.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with COPD, Sepsis, CVA, COVID, pneumonia, and surgical patient care; ability to float to other units if competent.
- Additional Information:
- Department operational notes include a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6 during day shifts and 1:5-6 at night.
- No vents are present on the unit; patients may require BiPAP, CPAP, or high-flow therapy.
- In-house hospitalist coverage on days; eHospitalist available during night shifts.
- Pharmacy available during the day and ePharmacist for medication needs; medication administration includes Lasix and Heparin drips.
- Orientation involves 2 days departmental and 1 day hospital/EMR training.
- Floating to other floors is permitted if competency exists.
