Job Summary
Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) position in a Level I trauma center within an acute care hospital. This role involves providing high-quality patient care for adolescents, adults, and geriatrics on a busy surgical unit. The RN will be responsible for utilizing clinical skills to support patient recovery, manage complex medical needs, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts, 1845-0715
- Patient Ratios: Up to 1:7 if needed, with consideration for patient care standards and safety
- Schedule: Nights, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 09/14/2026 and ending on 12/14/2026
- Required Qualifications: Valid IL licensure in hand, at least 2 years of clinical nursing experience, BLS certification, experience with PICC line management, starting IVs, and tracheostomy and laryngectomy patient care.
- Certifications: BLS required
- Preferred Qualifications: Cerner charting system experience, experience with blood product administration, wound care, and surgical drains.
- Additional Information: Must be willing to take on call, float within scope, and support patient care needs for trauma, surgical, and complex medical cases. Experience with dressing changes, drain removals, and maintaining IVs strongly preferred.
- Other Requirements: Must have active Illinois nursing license, be willing to work every other weekend, and adhere to hospital and unit-specific policies.
