Job Summary:
The medical-surgical nurse specialty is needed for a unit located in Wheeling, West Virginia. This position involves working on an acute care floor with a patient ratio of approximately 1:6 or 1:7. The role requires rotating day and night shifts, as well as weekends and holidays as needed, with a focus on providing quality care for patients with diagnoses such as congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cellulitis, respiratory assessments, gastrointestinal conditions, pneumonia, urosepsis, and acute kidney injury.
Job Details:
- Position: Medical Surgical Floor Nurse
- Location: Wheeling, West Virginia
- Shift: Transitioning to Qgenda scheduling system; 12-hour shifts
- Schedule: Rotating day/night shifts, rotating weekends, holidays as needed
- Required Qualifications: BLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS; Minimum 2 years of experience; licensure to submit not required
- Patient Ratios: Up to 1:7, with RN approval
- Unit Notes: 50 mile radius rule ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST INCLUDE A COPY OF CANDIDATE'S UNEXPIRED DRIVER'S LICENSE. Licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission
- Staffing: One charge nurse per shift, with PCTs (patient care technicians) and nurse aides present on the unit
- Equipment & Monitoring: No ventilators, intermittent BIPAP machines; remote monitoring for tele on the unit
- Floating: As needed based on census; external traveler first to float
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
- Charting System: EPIC
- Additional Notes: Transitioning schedule, rotating holidays and weekends, unit maintains a 30-bed capacity
