Job Summary
Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) Registered Nurse (RN) position in New Britain, CT. This role involves providing specialized care in a respiratory-focused environment, primarily on a respiratory step-down unit. The RN will be responsible for patient care related to respiratory and vent-dependent patients, with opportunities to float to related units as needed. The position requires working 12-hour day shifts, with every other weekend needed.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour days, 7:00 AM 7:30 PM. Minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: RN license, 1-2 years of experience in respiratory or ventilated patient care preferred, prior travel experience preferred. BLS certification is required; ACLS certification is preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with respiratory/vented patients, working in a specialized medical environment with complex patient populations.
- Float: Float to related units such as Chronic Care Units, TBI, and Medically complex Chronic Care units may be required.
- Additional Information: The RN will be responsible for IV starts, drips, blood administration, EKGs, med titrations, glucose monitoring, wound care, trach care, suctioning, straight cath, Foley care, Port Access, and central line dressing. Nurses do not manage ventilators, which are handled by respiratory therapists. The unit has 36 beds on the respiratory care unit and 38 beds on the respiratory step-down unit. Candidates must have a clean profile with relevant respiratory or vent-dependent patient experience.
