👶 Your Role

As an L&D RN, you'll provide comprehensive nursing care to patients and families throughout the perinatal journey while responding confidently to routine and emergent obstetric situations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care during the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods.
  • Perform comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments of patients.
  • Assess and continuously monitor maternal and fetal well-being.
  • Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and identify abnormalities requiring intervention.
  • Assess amniotic fluid status, vaginal bleeding, labor progression, and maternal condition.
  • Develop and implement individualized, multidisciplinary care plans.
  • Provide safe and effective pain management throughout labor.
  • Support pharmacological and alternative pain-management techniques.
  • Assist with epidural catheter placement and monitor maternal/fetal status before, during, and after medication administration.
  • Respond appropriately to perinatal emergencies, including:
    • Emergency/crash C-sections
    • Precipitous deliveries
    • Shoulder dystocia
    • Other obstetric emergencies
  • Assist with and circulate for C-sections.
  • Supervise and delegate appropriate patient-care activities to ancillary personnel within their scope of practice.
  • Educate patients and families throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum experience.
  • Provide culturally sensitive, age-appropriate patient and family education.
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, care provided, and patient responses in Epic.
  • Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesia, newborn care teams, and other multidisciplinary professionals.
  • Support safe transitions through the postpartum period.


🩺 Required Experience & Skills

  • 2+ years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience.
  • Strong LDRP experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated competency in maternal and fetal assessment.
  • Experience managing high-risk and emergent obstetric situations.
  • C-section circulating experience.
  • Strong fetal monitoring and interpretation skills.
  • Ability to recognize and respond rapidly to changes in maternal or fetal condition.
  • Excellent communication, clinical judgment, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment.
  • Epic EMR experience required.


🎓 Education & Certifications

Required:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
  • Active RN license in the state of practice.
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NRP
  • AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring / Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
  • Current certifications must meet facility requirements.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
