Job Summary:
The unit nurse in the Labor and Delivery Department located in Redding, California, will provide specialized care for low and high risk deliveries, including those involving a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The position involves working night shifts with a focus on monitoring fetal well-being, managing delivery patients, and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend (EOW), with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit, at least 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, certifications including ACLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and COVID vaccine certification.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with low and high risk deliveries, familiarity with Cerner electronic charting system, and the ability to circulate during procedures is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Responsibilities: Triage, monitor fetal status, assist with deliveries, and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure patient safety and care quality. Peak staffing periods are during July and October; the unit requires flexibility to float to pediatric and neonatal units where necessary.
  • Floats: Pedswould take similar patients as on postpartum care; NICUwould handle feeders and growers if prior experience is confirmed.
  • Holidays: Will work in with the permanent holiday rotation schedule.
  • Additional Information: The unit conducts a proctored dysrhythmia test on day one (pass/fail). The care setting involves a Family Birth Center with 19 PP beds, 12 L&D beds, 2 ORs, and 1 PACU. The team features a clinical supervisor and a nurse manager working on weekdays.
