Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse position located in Templeton, California. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, including emergency situations such as cesarean sections. The position requires supervising ancillary staff and collaborating with the healthcare team to develop goal-oriented care plans. The role is part of the Labor and Delivery Department within an acute care facility serving northern San Luis Obispo County.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Rotating shifts, Night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Associate Degree (A.S.) or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred); Two years of Labor & Delivery experience; current RN license in California; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification; Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course; facility-specific certifications including BLS, AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS, AHA-NRP or ARC-NALS.
  • Preferred Qualifications: None specified.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required.
  • Additional Information: Performs physical and psychosocial assessments considering age, cultural differences, and fetal demise support. Develops multidisciplinary care plans, manages perinatal emergencies such as crash cesarean, precipitous delivery, and shoulder dystocia. Assesses fetal and maternal well-being, manages pain control including epidural placement, educates patients and families, documents all care accurately, and performs safety and quality checks routinely.
