Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery (L&D) registered nurse position is based in a healthcare facility located in Chula Vista, California. This role involves providing comprehensive care to obstetric patients throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum stages. The nurse will utilize clinical expertise and the nursing process to promote positive outcomes, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and advocate for patients and their families.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: CA RN license; certifications in CPR, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Electronic Fetal Heart Monitoring (EFM); at least three years recent RN experience in an RN role, with at least two years in a specialty area such as Labor and Delivery.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a high-acuity labor or delivery setting; familiarity with electronic fetal monitoring and neonatal resuscitation protocols.
- Additional Information: The RN will perform bedside assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and coordinate with healthcare teams to support labor, delivery, and postpartum care. Responsibilities include patient assessment, education, support, delegation, communication, and documentation in accordance with departmental and facility policies. The role requires effective communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to delivering quality patient-centered care.
