Job Summary
Labor and Delivery Nurse in Puyallup, WA This role involves providing specialized care to women during labor, delivery, and the postpartum period in a Level III Trauma Center with a 375-bed capacity. The position requires collaboration within a multidisciplinary team to support maternal and fetal health while ensuring compliance with patient safety standards.
Job Details
- Position: Labor and Delivery Nurse
- Location: Puyallup, WA
- Schedule: Day and night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS certification, Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification, fetal monitoring certification (AWHONN or Relias module), RN license, 1 year of experience in Labor and Delivery required, and experience with EMR systems such as EPIC Stork and GE Centricity.
- Skills: Strong labor and delivery experience including cervical exams, antepartum and labor management, amnio infusion, epidurals, fetal monitoring, IV management, Pitocin administration, postpartum care, and couplet care. Basic breastfeeding support and familiarity with Pyxis medication dispensing system.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with HUGS Security system and NICU attendance for 34 weeks or less laboratory.
- Additional Information:
Support within the department includes no CNA staff on the unit, with surgery techs phased out. The team includes NICU staff, RTs attending high-risk deliveries, and 24/7 hospitalist coverage. Orientation involves annual core competencies, medication exams, and unit competency exams. The unit follows AWHONN and NANN guidelines for patient ratios, with float capability within competency areas. The shift involves patient care during labor, supportive postpartum care, and delivery management, with rotating weekends and one major and one minor holiday per year.
