Job Description:

In addition to the general staff RN job description, the WCU staff RN will be responsible for the care of women from childbearing through geriatric years and infants up to 28 days of life, supervising and coordinating care with other disciplines.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately charge for patients and unit supplies.
• Administer and control narcotics and medications.
• Administer IV fluids according to PCS Policy and Procedure.
• Communicate effectively with all members of the patient care team including patients, family, and physicians.
• Compassionately provide care to patients acknowledging physiological, psychological, and developmental needs.
• Demonstrate correct and safe techniques in the use of office and patient care equipment.
• Handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise, and professional manner.
• Develop an individual plan of care specific to each patient's age, growth, and developmental status.
• Evaluate outcomes for patient care and adjust nursing care processes as necessary.
• Provide effective leadership by directing and/or delegating tasks to other members of the healthcare team.

Requirements:

• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patients served.
• Maintain and meet expectations for all competencies, license, certifications, and education requirements as outlined by local administration and regulatory agencies.
• Perform a complete assessment for each patient assigned utilizing age-specific assessment techniques.
• Provide and document appropriate patient and family education.
