Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery specialty nurse is needed at a healthcare provider in Washington, District of Columbia. This full-time night shift position involves caring for females of childbearing years, pregnant patients at 17 weeks gestation or more, and managing labor and delivery processes. The role includes routine activities such as admissions, discharges, transfers, pre-operative care, and deliveries (both vaginal and cesarean). The nurse will utilize fetal monitoring equipment and electronic documentation systems.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per day, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of District of Columbia, at least 2 years of Labor and Delivery (L&D) experience, current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications, neonatal resuscitation program (NRP) certification, and intermediate electronic fetal monitoring (AWHONN). Experience with Cerner electronic health records is also required. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the facility and be available for a 3 x 12-hour rotation.
  • Additional Information: The clinical activity focuses on caring for pregnant women, including scheduled procedures like cesarean sections, external cephalic versions, and cerclage (when applicable). Equipment used includes fetal monitors and documentation in Cerner and Fetalink systems.
