Job Summary
L&D Postpartum Nurse Postpartum Floor Location unspecified. This position involves providing comprehensive postpartum and antepartum care to postpartum patients and newborns within a team-oriented environment. The role requires independent care for mother-baby couplets, discharge education, breastfeeding support, and neonatal assessments, with responsibilities including lab work and IV management. The assignment offers a supportive and positive work culture with opportunities for professional growth.

Job Details

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, from 0700-1930 and 1900-0730, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: 1 year of Mother-Baby/Postpartum experience; at least 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse; Licensure certifications including BLS and NRP; Neonatal Fetal Monitoring (EFM) preferred; ability to independently care for 3-4 mother-baby couplets; recent experience with breastfeeding assistance, newborn care, newborn lab testing, phlebotomy, and adult IV skills; willingness to work on a unit with reception, charge nurse, lactation nurses, clinical nursing assistants, RT, hospitalist/OB, anesthesia, and EMR systems such as EPIC.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with NAS (Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome) babies, fundal checks, vaccination, and thorough maternal-infant assessments.
  • Additional Information: Orientation consists of 3 shifts with preceptors, including one night shift orientation. The position involves team collaboration and floating to LD, NICU, or med-surg units as needed. No holiday blackout dates; at least one winter and one summer holiday are expected. Voluntary on-call is available but not required. Scrubs may be any color; NICU scrubs are hospital-provided. Free parking is available.
