Job Description
Unit: Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), 64 beds including 15 designated Neuro beds
The Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in a high-acuity Intermediate Care Unit. The unit cares for patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions, including neurological, cardiac, respiratory, trauma, postoperative, COPD, DKA, sepsis, MI, and cardiovascular stepdown patients.
Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to adult IMCU/PCU patients.
Perform comprehensive assessments and continuously monitor patients for changes in condition.
Manage patients requiring intermediate/high-acuity nursing interventions.
Care for patients with temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, arterial lines, and BiPAP.
Monitor and manage patients requiring cardiac and respiratory support.
Care for patients on chronic ventilators who are unable to wean, with respiratory therapy support as needed.
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
Monitor neurological, cardiac, respiratory, and hemodynamic status.
Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly communicate/escalate concerns.
Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Provide patient and family education.
Maintain accurate documentation in Epic EMR.
Float to other appropriate units as required by hospital needs.
Follow hospital policies, infection-control standards, and patient-safety practices.
Required Qualifications
Active New York RN license
Minimum 2 years of recent IMCU/PCU experience
Previous travel nursing experience
Epic EMR experience
Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
Strong cardiac, neurological, and respiratory assessment skills
Ability to manage multiple high-acuity adult patients in an intermediate-care environment
Flexibility to float as required
Patterns Hiring Job ID #AN-1757. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 48 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
