Job Summary
Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Nurse - Spotsylvania, VA. This role involves caring for patients in a specialized step-down unit requiring critical thinking and adaptability. The position offers a dynamic work environment with a focus on patient safety and recovery.
Job Details
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Candidates must have at least 2 years of recent experience in a hospital setting, hold Virginia license or a Compact state license at submission, and possess current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications. Additional qualifications include NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, and experience with IV infusions such as Amiodarone, Nitro, Heparin, Milrinone, Cardazem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Lasix, IV Push Labetalol and Metoprolol.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with MediTech electronic medical records, willingness to work extra shifts, and experience with pre/post Cardiac Catheterization recovery are advantageous.
- Additional Information: The unit is a 26-bed Progressive Care Unit with acuity-based staffing (e.g., 1:1, 1:2, occasionally 1:3). Staff includes RNs, PCTs, charge nurses, and other clinical roles, with a typical mix of day and night shifts. Equipment used includes GE Telemetry monitors, Baxter Sigma Spectrum IV pumps, and Hill-Rom patient beds. The unit occasionally requires staff to float to MS & Surgical units or ICU to care for patients boarding in ICU. The dress code is teal scrubs; a minimum of four weekend shifts per schedule are required. No on-call responsibilities are mandated.
