Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) registered nurse position available in Iron Mountain, Michigan. This role involves providing specialized critical care to adult patients in a 5-bed ICU with a focus on ventilator management, titratable drips, and managing complex diagnoses such as respiratory failure, septic shock, and arrhythmias. The position offers rotating 12-hour shifts and responsibilities include floating to Med/Surg as needed within a rural hospital environment.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts (0700-1900 & 1900-0700) with a minimum of 48 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Current ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association) certifications; minimum of 2 years ICU experience in an ICU setting; licensed to practice as a registered nurse; must be comfortable floating to Med/Surg units; experience with ventilator management and titrating drips such as Levophed, Propofol, Cardizem, Esmolol, and Insulin.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Critical Access or Trauma Level 3 or 4 facilities, or prior rural setting experience, with limited onsite resources.
  • Float: Float rotation required; nurses may be asked to manage ratios of 1:3-6 in Med/Surg.
  • Additional Information: Hospital has no bedside nurse aides, with hospitalist or intensivist coverage until 6:00 PM and ICU Tele physicians at night. RT staff available 24/7 with ventilator, Cpap, Bipap, and heated high-flow equipment. Tele-monitoring from 0700-1900 daily with RN verification. Orientation includes computer training and shadowing, with subsequent independent shifts. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and possibly on call or standby.
