Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurse position is based in a facility located in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized critical care in a dedicated ICU unit, focusing on patients with respiratory failure, post-surgical recovery, wound care, IV antibiotics, and other complex conditions. The position is scheduled for night shifts, requiring a compassionate and skilled RN to deliver essential care in a high-acuity environment.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that application process has been initiated; BLS (American Heart Association); ACLS (American Heart Association); minimum of 1 year of ICU experience; Certifications must be current
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with PEG tube care/feedings, CVC/PICC/Midline care, tracheostomy care, ventilated and sedated patient management, titration of vasopressors, sedation, and pain control drips such as Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Versed, Lasix, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levophed, Dopamine, and Cardizem; ability to read telemetry strips
  • Duties: Provide primary critical care in the ICU for patients with various diagnoses including respiratory failure, post-surgical, post-trauma, and cardiac patients; manage titratable drips, troubleshoot ventilators and telemetry monitors, and collaborate with in-house hospitalist and intensivist teams 24/7
  • Float: ICU RNs may float to Medical Surgical (MS) units if required
  • Dress Code: Scrubs only, with only OSF approved t-shirts allowed in any color
  • Orientation: Classroom orientation per hospital policy and 2 shifts on the unit with a preceptor
  • Additional Information: The ICU has 8 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2-3; a charge nurse is present on each shift and may take assignments; house supervisor is available 24/7; RT team available 24/7; Phillips telemetry monitors are used, monitored centrally in the ICU; no nurse aides or patient care techs on the unit; telehealth MD available after hours; no specific call or standby requirement at this time, but may change in the future
