Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) registered nurse position located at a Level III trauma center. The role involves caring for adult patients with a wide range of diagnoses, including severe psychiatric conditions, substance overdose, sepsis, respiratory failure, and cardiac emergencies. The ICU team operates 24 hours a day, with experienced RNs providing high-acuity care and floating to medical/surgical units as needed.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts, with all day positions rotating between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., or 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. shifts as needed. Night shifts do not rotate. Minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Active Massachusetts RN license, 2+ years of adult ICU experience, 2+ years of continuous work in a single location with preference for MICU experience, telemetry competency, and certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a Level III trauma center ICU, familiarity with electronic medical records (EPIC).
  • Float: Float to medical/surgical units required, with patient ratios up to 1:4 or 1:5 when floated. Floating may involve managing up to 4 or 5 patients, depending on acuity.
  • Additional Information: The unit is a 20-bed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit caring for adult patients with conditions such as substance overdose, severe psychiatric issues, diabetic ketoacidosis, sepsis, gastrointestinal bleeding, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock. The ICU staff includes attendings and residents present 24/7.
