Job Summary:
The ICU (Intensive Care Unit) healthcare provider position is based in Spokane, Washington. This role involves providing critical care to a diverse patient population within a Level 3 trauma center. The position requires managing patients with complex medical and surgical needs and supporting clinical operations in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shift with 12-hour shifts and a minimum of 36 hours per week. Every other weekend rotation is expected.
- Required Qualifications: Two years of ICU experience (medical ICU preferred) with a valid BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification. Candidate must demonstrate cardiac rhythm interpretation, medication titration, proning, hypothermia protocol knowledge, chest tubes, drains, invasive line monitoring (A-lines, CVP). Travel experience is strongly preferred, although a reasonable background in ICU is acceptable.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with medical and surgical ICU patient management, including post-operative care following CABG/TAVR, femoral-popliteal bypass, AAA repair, and neuro ICU cases such as CVA, intracranial hemorrhage, and craniotomies. Familiarity with EPIC charting system, medication dispensing via Pyxis, and supporting various floors like telemetry and surgical units.
- Additional Information: Orientation involves two 12-hour shifts of on-unit training. Competency in telemetry must be completed and passed prior to start. Support staff include a mobility technician, resource nurse, hospitalist, respiratory therapist, and a 24/7 intensivist presence. The unit emphasizes good teamwork, integration of travelers, and adherence to facility policies. Scrub color is flexible as long as it is professional. Candidate must be open to occasional holiday work and supportive of a collaborative ICU environment.
