Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Carlsbad, New Mexico. This position involves providing high-level patient care in a 12-bed ICU setting, with responsibilities including ventilator management, titratable drips, patient hygiene, and total patient care. The assignment is for a 13-week contract starting on September 7, 2026, with floating to Emergency Room (ER) and Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) departments as needed.
Job Details:
- Location: Carlsbad, NM
- Schedule: Days, 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., floating required, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Certified as a Registered Nurse (RN), applicable license for New Mexico, 2+ years ICU experience, BLS and ACLS certifications, proficiency with vents, titratable drips, medication mixing, and patient hygiene. ER and Med Surg experience preferred; TNCC certification preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ventilators, titratable drips, patient hygiene, ER background, Med Surg experience, TNCC certification preferred.
- Float: Float rotation may be required; potential override based on department needs. When floating to ER, staffing assistance includes answering call lights, passing medications, patient transport, IV starts, and blood draws. When floating to Med-Surg, nurses may take full patient assignments or act as aides with up to 12 patients.
- Additional Information: FINGERPRINTS FOR ALL NM TRAVELERS ARE REQUIRED!! The unit has 12 beds with a patient ratio of 1:2-3. No call required. EMR system used is MedHost. Scrub color is flexible. Holidays are required.
